Roemenië: Theodor Andrei

Theodor kreeg nationale bekendheid in Roemenië wanneer hij in 2017 meedoet aan Vocea Romeniei Junior, de Roemeense versie van The Voice Kids, daar haalt hij de halve finale. Drie jaar later probeert hij het opnieuw en doet hij mee aan een lokale versie van The X Factor, waar hij stopt bij de bootcamps. 

Zijn debuutalbum komt uit in 2022. Ondanks dat Theodor pas 18 jaar oud is, is hij goed op weg een grote ster te worden.

Wat betekent het Roemeense songfestivalnummer ‘D.G.T (Off and On)’?

De titel van zijn nummer lijkt een afkorting, maar dat is niet het geval. De titel betekent eigenlijk helemaal niks. Wel zit er iets achter, want in Roemenië worden de drie letters in de titel uitgesproken als “de-ge-te” wat klinkt als het Roemeense woord ‘degete’ wat vinger betekent. 

In het nummer gaat het over de Roemeense uitspraak “a juca pe cineva pe degete” vertaalt naar “iemand op zijn vingers bespelen” wat eigenlijk betekent "iemand voor de gek zetten”. In het nummer heeft hij het over een vrouw die hem bespeelt. Hij is een soort van verslaafd aan het spel van de vrouw en kiest haar boven een duizendtal andere vrouwen. 

Theodor legt uit dat het nummer een wedstrijd presenteert tussen rantsoen en instinct, een duel tussen passie en emotionele zekerheid, kort gezegd dus een liefdesoorlog.
