Waar gaat het nummer ‘My Sister’s Crown’ van Vesna over?

’My Sister's Crown’ is een inspirerend nummer dat de kracht van vrouwen (en mannen!) viert. Het nummer gaat over hoe belangrijk het is om voor jezelf op te komen. 

Ze zingen ook over thema's als ongelijkheid en geweld tegen vrouwen. Vesna moedigt mannen en vrouwen aan om elkaar te steunen, waarbij je liefde boven macht moet verkiezen. In het lied komen vier talen voor: Engels, Tsjechisch, Oekraïens en Bulgaars.

Wie zijn de bandleden van Vesna?

De meiden ontmoeten elkaar op het conservatorium in Praag. Eerder had de band een andere samenstelling, maar sinds 2018 zijn ze samen in de huidige samenstelling:

Patricie Fuxová (frontzangeres), Bára Šůstková (zangeres/violiste), Olesya Ochepovská (toetseniste), Markéta Vedralová (drummer), Tereza Čepková (basgitarist) en Tanita Yankovová (zangeres).

De naam Vesna komt uit de slavische mythologie. Vesna is de godin van lente, liefde en harmonie.

Hoe zijn ze geselecteerd voor het Eurovisie Songfestival 2023?

Op 7 februari 2023 wonnen ze ESCZ 2023, de nationale voorrondes voor het Songfestival in Tsjechië.
