Slovenië: Joker Out

Omdat deze band extreem populair is in Slovenië heeft er geen nationale voorronde plaatsgevonden. Joker Out is direct geselecteerd door de Sloveense omroep en de band kan zich zo volledig focussen op het Eurovisie Songfestival.

Wie zijn Joker Out?

Joker Out is een indierockband met een Nederlands tintje. De band bestaat uit Bojan Cvjetićanin, Martin Jurkovič, Matic Kovačič, Jan Peteh en Kris Guštin. 

Het laatstgenoemde bandlid, Kris, heeft Nederlandse roots. Zijn moeder is Nederlands en hij heeft een sterke band met ons land. Kris is tweetalig opgegroeid, bezocht de Nederlandstalige school in Ljubljana, en zegt zelf “hoewel ik geboren ben in Slovenië, is mijn moedertaal Nederlands”. Kris reist al van jongs af aan meerdere malen per jaar naar Nederland om de familie van zijn Nederlandse moeder te bezoeken.

Betekenis van het Sloveense songfestivalnummer ‘Carpe Diem’?

De titel van hun nummer “Carpe Diem” is afkomstig van de Latijnse uitdrukking “pluk de dag”. Het nummer gaat over het beste maken van het heden en je minder zorgen te maken over de toekomst. 

De groep moedigt hun fans aan om zich te concentreren op het leven en met volle teugen een positieve instelling te hebben. De grootste boodschap is dan ook wel dat je liefde moet verspreiden, en geen oorlog moet voeren.
